This April, during Autism Awareness Month, we spotlight Cynthia Obinwanne, a leader and autism advocate based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
For over eight years, the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities at the University of Houston Clear Lake and ABA World have been collaborating with Cynthia, the founder of TalkLove Africa Foundation. This partnership supports early identification of autism, inclusive education, parent and student training, and community awareness.
Under Cynthia’s leadership, TalkLove Africa Foundation has evolved into a powerful platform for social change. The organization offers free workshops, community outreach programs, and educational initiatives, including autism screening and intervention training. Most recently, in partnership with the University of Houston Clear Lake, the foundation hosted a free workshop in Port Harcourt titled "Identifying Autism: Screening, Diagnosis, and Interventions." The event attended university students, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and educators working with children on the autism spectrum. The event’s success was largely due to Cynthia’s leadership.
Cynthia’s passion is consistently supported by action in the community. Whether she’s leading teams, mentoring youth, or advocating for inclusive policies, she is recognized for her professionalism, integrity, and service. Her commitment to education, including for children with developmental needs and autism, has made her a trusted figure both locally and internationally. Her leadership and advocacy have earned her numerous awards and recognition as an SDG enthusiast, inspiring others to step forward and contribute to inclusive environments.
Cynthia is not only successful professional, she’s also a mother of four, balancing family life with her commitment to social progress. Her journey is one of purpose, service, and resilience.
This April, we celebrate Cynthia Obinwanne not just for her accomplishments, but for the lives she continues to uplift every day.
Thank you, Cynthia, for your leadership and compassion.
